The brief

Blue Haven Cottage sits in classic New England suburban language, so the brief wasn't to reinvent the architecture but to make its balance feel effortless — a facade that reads as timeless rather than dated, welcoming rather than generic. Marketing film meant the exterior also had to hold up as a moving establishing shot, not just a single hero angle.

The open spaces around the cottage needed to read as a real sanctuary — private enough to feel like a retreat, open enough that the countryside setting is never in doubt.

Light and setting

We set the hero still in a snowfall — the cottage's blue clapboard against a quiet winter sky, windows lit warm from inside so the house reads as lived-in and welcoming even in the cold. Falling snow does most of the atmosphere's work on its own; we kept the grade honest rather than pushing it warmer than a snow scene should read.

For the film's opening move, the camera drifts in slowly from the treeline, letting the countryside arrive before the house does — the sanctuary feeling built into the sequence itself, not just the destination frame.
